Thousands Lost Power in Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Storms
Around 25,000 residences in Queensland's southeast were left without power on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms impacted the region, producing powerful gusts reaching over 100 km/h.
Large Ice Stones and Widespread Impact
Locals reported large ice chunks as large as 7 centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Victoria's Weather Woes
Simultaneously, approximately one thousand households in Victoria also faced power outages after the capital city experienced its most precipitation in a year and a half.
Rescue organizations received nearly 600 emergency reports across the state, mainly for property damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

At the height on Sunday, more than 28,000 electricity consumers in the state were experiencing outages.

Tuesday was expected to become the wettest day, with ongoing thunderstorm potential expected across multiple regions of both states.

Public health experts cautioned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
